3. The Purchasing Cycle and Process of a firm.  To procure quality material at a reasonable price in order to sustain the production activities.  A flawless design of various documents and free flow of information are essential for a successful purchase.
4. The Purchasing Terms and Conditions pertaining to the materials and information flow in the purchasing process.  The types of Tender in purchasing from Open tender, Limited tender and Single Tender.
5. The Definition and Objectives of Purchasing, which is a vital function of materials management.  Purchasing is not an end in itself.  Materials and supplies are purchased for use in other departments meeting their needs.  Purchasing is deeply involved in the management of material flow from the outside sources down to production through the inventory pipeline.  Right quantity and quality purchasing will not only lead to reduction in the production costs but the quality of production will also improve.
6. Principles and Methods of Purchasing pertaining to a buyer is generally keen in obtaining the best price consistent with quality and delivery requirements.  When the market conditions are stable, this does not pose any problems, but when is unstable, it becomes critical to decide when purchases are to be made.

INTRODUCTION
Warehousing is an important link in the total supply chain efficiency. While its importance is understood, many are still in the dark on how to measure its efficiency, specifically, cost efficiencies. Costs will be incurred in operating a warehouse. In most cases these costs are quite obvious like; rental, labor, energy, insurance, etc., but there are costs that are not that clear to many. These are costs that are hidden from most financial analysis and subsequently the effectiveness of it. Costs are very different between a manual process and a computerized system. Traditionally, many warehouses are very manual process oriented. While this is changing to computerized systems, it is done at a very slow pace. A Warehouse Management System, not only provide the impetus to cost efficiencies, it also provides benefits to process improvements, supply chain efficiencies and improve overall management of inventories. WMS may sound rosy, but the costs will have to be looked at. Does it justify investment in such a system? This and various other cost elements are addressed in this program

TRAINER PROFILE
Mano Haaran has immense experience and knowledge in the Supply Chain and Training environment. He brings along 21 years of direct managerial logistics & supply chain working experience, ranging from a large multi-million dollar organization to small and medium sized companies, and more then 18 years of training experience in these areas. He holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA) USA, an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, UK, and various certificates in logistics and supply chain management. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph D.  He acquired substantial, practical and invaluable work experience in challenging situations, in the warehouse, purchasing, inventory management, stock auditing, materials part numbering & coding, project management, etc. Initially, he worked for a large organization and later for a number of small entrepreneurial organizations acquiring sufficient knowledge and exposure of the total logistics and supply chain management. These exposure and experience prompted him to start his own consulting, training and! systems development company that specialized in the logistics and supply chain management.  Haaran, has been an entrepreneur, strategist, speaker and consultant.

His consultation includes supply chain and logistics efficiency, productivity improvement, total cost management, warehousing, inventory management, materials coding, standards and process documentation, systems development, purchasing negotiation, to improve and troubleshoot situation at workplace. His landmark consulting experience was designing of materials part numbering and coding systems, preparation of standards, policies and procedures for a large rail network. In the course of his work assignments he is constantly faced with crisis and disaster situations that have never been addressed by companies. He works with these organi! nations to address critical issues, resolve disruptive and sometimes life threatening situations and advice on business continuity plans.

TRAINER PROFILE
Thanabalan has extensive experience in the field of operations performance improvement particularly in various manufacturing and services industries. He is not only an excellent and resourceful trainer, he is also skilled in management and leadership of organizations. He graduated with a Honours degree in Management and Biochemistry from University of ScienceMalaysia in 1987. He also has an MBA from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, majoring in General Management. Thanabalan started his career in the manufacturing operations as a Production Executive and gradually moved in various managerial positions such as Production Manager , Packaging Manager, Planning and Logistics Manager, Sales Manager and Factory Manager. To name a few of the organizations that he worked for are Baxter Healthcare, London Rubber Company, Solectron, Mona Industries and Asiatic Dipped Products. This experience has given him a thorough understanding of the opportunities and problems involved with managing work. Since 1996, he has branched out into training and consultancy as well as lecturing various subjects in MBA programmes.

He also lectures in University of Malaya and University of TechnologyMalaysia on a part-time basis as a visiting lecturer. To date he has conducted many public and in-house trainings in many business areas for government organizations and private sectors such as Ministry of Defence, NTP World Forum, Titan Group, CS Metal Industries, Sharp Roxy, Petronas, ShinEtsu Sdn. Method of payment:

Cancellations & Substitutions:

All cancellations of registrations must be made in writing. If cancellations received one week before the event i.e. 11 January 2012 you will be entitled to a 50% refund. Due to contractual commitments no refund. will be made after 11 January 2012, however a complete set of documentation will be sent to you. Substitution are welcomed at anytime. Note: It may be necessary for reasons beyond control, to change the content and timing of the event, speaker(s) or venue, every effort will be made to inform the participants of the change.
